The Lotus Coalition is dedicated to addressing the complex challenges faced by individuals impacted by homelessness, addiction, human trafficking, and poverty. We strive to break the cycle of vulnerability and create pathways to stability, empowerment, and a brighter future for those in need.

THE CHALLENGES WE FACE

POVERTY & HOMELESSNESS

  • Persons in poverty, 12.2% of the population in St Petersburg in 2022.

  • Persons in poverty, 17.2% of the population in Tampa in 2022

  • The Tampa-St. Petersburg metropolitan area has the highest rate of homelessness in the nation, according to the National Alliance to End Homelessness in a report issued earlier this year - 57 homeless for every 10,000 residents. This area has approximately 16,000 homeless, and about one-fifth of them are children.

ADDICTION

  • In the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater area , an annual average of 326,000 persons aged 12 or older used an illicit drug in the past year.

HUMAN TRAFFICKING

  • 1,146 signals were received were from victims or survivors of human trafficking in Florida
